Emergence Profile and Cusp Position for CEREC Restorations

One of the hardest Biogeneric designs can be maxillary bicuspids. Often times the software places the buccal cusp in a position that needs manipulation to match nature. One of the philosophies I have set forth in my design strategy is that most teeth have some redeeming quality. That is, there is often a natural area of the tooth that if copied, can make our designs quicker, easier, and more efficient.

Often times bicuspids will fracture the lingual cusp and have a lot of restorative material present as well, but the natural buccal cusp will remain intact. I try and take advantage of that natural cusp position and emergence profile by using Biogeneric Copy and duplicating it with my design. It's imperative that if you employ this technique that you also take an opposing scan and buccal bite. You will need occlusal information for the area outside the copy line, as that is Biogenerically proposed. Happy designing.
