Dentsply’s Celtra Duo has been making some noise in the CEREC world in Europe as well as Canada. Though FDA approved in the US, it is still not widely available to dentists in the US quite yet. The material is a zirconium-reinforced lithium silicate (ZLS). The material demonstrates a strength of 210 MPa immediately out of the mill and can be simply polished. When fired with the proper 10:30 minutes cycle, the strength increases to 370 MPa. Dentsply offers its own universal stain and glaze kit for purchase. With a mill time around 14 minutes and firing time of 10:30, the material behaves comparably to the lithium disilicates we are accustomed to using routinely. Will the material be able to boast of the impressive track record emax possesses? Time will tell.
