Not MY best moment I suppose, but this case does make me proud to be a CEREC user.
I was making an e.max crown for tooth #18 and noticed this "sweet" mesial margin on my crown when I took a bitewing of the crown in the purple phase.
I was both surprised and disappointed, as I thought my margin was pretty clear, but obviously my prep missed the margin from the previous crown. It set us back a little more than 30 minutes, but I was able to improve my margin, re-image, and re-mill the crown for a better result.
It is frustrating for me when I get something wrong like that, but I love having the ability to correct my mistakes quickly with minimal inconvenience to my patients, thanks to my CEREC.
Talking with the patient, I highlighted the benefit of being able to see and correct any problems within today’s visit, as opposed to having to deal with a dud after waiting 2-3 weeks for the lab to make the crown. She was appreciative of our thoroughness and was actually just excited to see the milling machine make another crown and to be able to take the first crown home as a souvenir. Go figure.
