Several weeks ago I enjoyed a wonderful lecture by Stanly Malamed at the cerecdoctors.com Scientific Symposium in Vegas. He is the man who wrote the book (literally) on local anesthesia. Dr. Malamed is a solid supporter of the product OraVerse.

OraVerse is a local anesthesia reversal agent that accelerates the return to normal sensation and function after dental procedures. It is administered by injection with a standard dental syringe in the same injection site as that used for the local anesthetic. 

I have been using this product for the last 6 months mainly on my CEREC patients just to get a feeling for its efficacy. For a routine 90 minute single crown, I will inject the patient with OraVerse as soon as the preparation is complete. In a large proportion of cases, the patients have reported little or no numbness upon leaving the office. 

This is a great adjunct to the powerful internal marketing of single-visit crowns. Not only does the patient not have to return in 2 weeks, they are also leaving without the usual numb lip and can return to normal function immediately. Patients love it. Give it a try.
