Pegging Abutments for CEREC
Recently the long-awaited Ivoclar e.max abutment block was released in the U.S. for the purpose of creating custom implant abutments in-office. Previously this system utilized zirconium mesoblocks that required a long sintering process in a sintering oven most dentists would not have in their private practices. By utilizing the e.max mesoblock for this application we can now fire the material in the same manner as all e.max products.
To peg the abutment prior to firing, fill the inner aspect of the abutment with the pegging material of your choice. (Object Fix, WonderPeg, etc.). A special slim firing pin is then inserted being careful to not touch the pins to the sides of the restoration.
The MO abutment block is fired on the P7 cycle on the Programat CS oven. This is the 31 minute emax Impulse setting. The ability to keep this whole process in-house is truly a game-changer.
